Tebajima...
Teba Island is located 4km off the coast of Mugi Town, Kaifu County, in the southern part of Tokushima Prefecture.
It is a quiet, isolated island with no cars on it, about 4km in circumference.
Located almost in the center of Muroto-Anan Coast National Park
You can see Cape Gamoda and Ishima to the north, and Cape Muroto to the south.
The untouched, majestic nature spreads out there.
The sunrise over Mugi Oshima and the sunset over the Shikoku Mountains
It's a spectacular view that can only be seen from here.
In the early Showa period, the area flourished as a major producer of bonito flakes, and was home to nearly 1,000 people.
Even now, about 35 people live here quietly, living in island time, with the eternal flow of time.

Island Time
Depart from Mugi to Tebajima on the ferry Oikemaru. When you enter Tebajima Port, you will notice the silence as if time has stopped. There is not a single car on the island. Why not forget the hustle and bustle of the city in a quiet environment without exhaust fumes and experience the eternal flow of time and island time?

Townscape
The architectural style known as "mise-zukuri" (opened as a veranda, closed as shutters) is commonly seen on Teba Island.
In Mugi Town, in an effort to preserve the atmospheric townscape that exudes the retro atmosphere of Tebajima, the town was designated as a Important Traditional Building by the Agency for Cultural Affairs under the Townscape Preservation System in July 2017, and two to three buildings are being restored each year.

Stone embankment
In front of the guesthouse is a stone embankment built in the Taisho era. It still retains its original form and is located at the island's gateway. You can see the high level of skill of the craftsmen at that time. It can be said to be one of the symbolic sights of Tebajima.

Lighthouse
The peak of Tebajima mountain is 66 meters high, and the top of the lighthouse is about 10 meters higher. It serves as an important guidepost for ships sailing through the Kii Channel. From the peak, you can see a magnificent view stretching from Gamoda Cape to Muroto Cape. Tsushima and Mugi Oshima spread out below look like a miniature garden.

Large eel
There are more to Tebajima than just sea fish.
There is a stream on the mountain, 66 meters above sea level, and water flows from the mountain to a well. Large eels live in a pool of water just above the well.

Oike Pond / White tufted grass
On the west coast of Tebajima, there is a pond called Oike. Shiratamamo, an extremely valuable algae from an academic perspective, grows wild there, as it has only been found in three places in the world.

Promenade
Tebajima is a small island with a circumference of about 4 kilometers. There are western and eastern promenades on the island, and you can go around the island by climbing to the top of the mountain (66 meters above sea level) where there is a lighthouse, but the eastern promenade is currently closed.

sea/nature
Located almost in the center of the Muroto-Anan Coast Quasi-National Park, the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean blend with the mountains of the Shikoku Mountains, creating a magnificent, untouched natural environment.
